Kidney Beans or Rajma – a bean shaped obviously in the form of a Kidney and comes with a rich nutritional value ! Often, we neglect the individual ingredients in a dish but everything that we eat, be it in portions small or large plays a part in the overall well being of an individual.
Not just for its nutritional value, Rajma is high on taste and the color adds the necessary ‘eating with eye’ property that leads to cravings ! Ask any Indian about Rajma Chawal and warn you, the reaction or description you would recieve is sure to make you salivate.
Red is the color that gives the bean its charm, but there are different variants like white, cream, speckled that would differ in taste a bit but not much.
It is rich in Protein and high in essential minerals like potassium, magnesium and various vitamins. If you are not already satisfied with its taste ( which would be unbelievable !), its richness in nutrients and being weight loss friendly should win you over.
It should be eaten well cooked and the dried beans is required to be soaked ( mostly overnight) as the outer skin contains toxins when raw. Happy Rajma !
