Road Trips are a perfect way to unwind from the busy life that we have put ourselves into ! What makes the road trip more fun and memorable is the gem of eateries and rest areas that we find on the way – from the dhaba’s, the McDonald’s of the world to the road side tea stalls or a mini market in the petrol bunk – everything seems just great ! On one such road trip from Bangalore to Tirupati, looking out for some breakfast options on the highway after an early morning start led us to this unexpected huge complex near Kolar off the highway that is a boon for travelers , aptly named as the Highway Star !
Huge parking area with a series of mini fountains welcoming one. There are designated priority parking spots for folks who are differently abled , pregnant or any medical reasons which is hard to find ! Clear sign-boards on the facilities offered with directions gets a big thumbs up for the effort put in. What stands out is that there are wheelchairs and prams available for use as well – not sure if there is a cost associated to it but with fee or free – providing such a facility itself is such a people friendly measure !
There are a few shops inside, the only one that caught my attention was a mobile shop near the entrance. The wash rooms are clean and well maintained, they have separate bath rooms as well as hot water facility I believe. There is an ATM available too. The Food Court has options like Maiya’s, McD , Domino’s among a few others. We were here for breakfast so Maiya’s it was for a good south Indian meal ! Soft idly, crispy vada, good pongal , filling masala dosa’s and an awesome coffee were the order of the day – just perfect !
The place also offers an open seating area, a lawn with ducks, rabbit and birds for company and children’s play area as well.
Overall – a perfect pit-stop for all those seeking a break for refreshments, rest and recreation while hitting the road !

Thank you Ajay Arora for the lovely blog !
We believe that Indian highways lack world class facilities and we have done our 2 cents ..
We have a starbucks opening soon
Shell fuel station and Schmitten chocolates have open
Please treat Highway Star as home !!!

Hey this is an amazing place and you have penned down your appreciation for it perfectly. Even I was totally stunned and in awe of this place when we were looking for a pit stop during our journey from Bengaluru to Andhra. I have been here two times now and looking forward to many more. From the looks of it and my chat with the manager, they are opening a couple more outlets along with boarding facilities as well.
