A ‘Biergarten’ gathering !

‘Biergarten’ in its true sense means a ‘Beer Garden‘ in German ! The significance of a Beer garden is that the local folks and communities gather in an open or an outdoor area sharing tables amongst a serving of beer, local food and some entertainment. The ‘Biergarten’ Brewery and Kitchen in the whitefield area of Bangalore aims to bring in a similar atmosphere with its pub and microbrewery.

One look at this place , and it becomes evident that they have done justice to the name !  A beautiful outdoor setup and an equally elegant covered area spread across 2 levels ( Ground and First)

The ambiance is excellent with offbeat interiors, open kitchen, extremely comfortable couches with soft pillows that takes dining experience to a different level. Nicely designed lights and different types of tables and chairs lined up to suit the masses all add to the elegance of this place.

The bar is designed perfectly and the open Pizza preparation counter allows one to see the pizza being made from scratch and also to have a glimpse of the pizza oven in action.

Beverages :

Apart from the in house brewed beer , the bar has a great assortment of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including cocktails and mocktails. I tried one of their Cocktail’s – Get Fresh which was a blend of vodka, watermelon, lime leaves, lime juice and sugar syrup.Refreshing cocktail it was and a lively color too !

Appetizers :

Herb Fish Fingers  – One of the best fish fingers I’ve had in a while, excellent comfort food with succulent juicy fish fried well in a Herb batter. One of those things where the craving for more increases with every bite ! Delicious !

Fire Cracker Prawns –  Another cracker of a dish ! Crispy fried prawns , well marinated. Every bite had that crunchy effect as well as the softness of the well cooked prawn.

Mushroom Galouti – Very soft melt in the mouth mushroom kebabs, though the kebab as a whole was good, but could not identify or taste the mushrooms itself. The mint chutney served along with the kebabs was nice.

Shanghai Chicken Dumpling –  Perfect and simple dumplings with a nice presentation.

Chargrilled Pommery Mustard Fish – Excellent pieces of mustard marinated fish finished in Tandoor. Again mint chutney as a dip went well with the fish.

Orange Scented Spiced Chargrilled Chicken One of my favorites here , the flavor of the orange zest and the spicy chicken was just delicious! Orange and chicken is a finger licking combination I must say ! Yum ! Not to forget, the nice presentation on the grill.

Main Course :

Sundried Tomato and Feta Cheese Pizza – Thin crust , 12 inch, light on tummy, good quantity of toppings and nice layering of cheese, that pretty much sums up the pizza that we hogged.

Sundried Tomato and Mushroom Risotto – Good on taste but more cheese, more mushroom would have helped !

Lamb Shanks – Lamb was good and so was the sauce but needed more of it to soak in.Nice presentation using the mashed potatoes as base. The mash was good and sauteed spinach added the balance of taste that was needed.

Desserts :

Desserts were beyond expectations here ! Tiramisu,  Red Velvet coconut cheese cake , Warm date and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla icecream was our order and oh boy weren’t they awesome ! The presentation , the taste, the freshness just blew us away  and a fantastic way to end an excellent meal !

Service had its ups and downs ! Starters and Desserts took a while to come but it was worth the wait ! There is some parking space available at the entrance as well !  We also got a chance to visit their brewery and see the action unfold !

To sum it up, an excellent place for all ages with some great food and ambiance !
