‘The Rock’ing Restaurant ?
Bangalore is a cosmopolitan place with a lot of different restaurants finding home here and dishing out local and international cuisine, what is lacking though are the presence of themed restaurants. There are a few and this place in Indira Nagar is one of them.’ The Rock’ is a wildlife or a jungle themed restaurant with a good setup and ambience and is sure to fascinate kids visiting this place.
The resto has two levels and is a buffet type place. Ended up here by chance with family when looking out for a place to have lunch on near the Domlur flyover. There was a Birthday party going on at the ground level and was closed whereas the upper level was open to all and we were given a table almost immediately.
Coming to the food , they have a satisfactory variety of both non-veg and veg starters. Fish wrapped in a banana leaf stood out for me and so did the Thai styled chicken. Welcome drink was Jaljeera and there were options of soups as well. From the maincourse , chicken biriyani had the right texture and great flavour. Chicken Fried rice had very little chicken though Mutton curry was good but chicken gravy was extremely spicy for my liking. On the Veg front – paneer gravy good not great , rice items were a little dry and cold, veg noodles very very oily.
Deserts were better than the main course and we had options of Gulab Jamun, some pastries and three variety of ice creams. Service was poor, first there was a confusion over which seat to give us with multiple staff members asking us to go back and forth across different tables as some of them were reserved for the birthday party and then the food was not being refilled quickly and response was muted when we asked them to. Some of it was not hot at all especially the rice items.Service seemed to have taken a toll because of the party going on there, perhaps it would be better on a normal day. They do have valet parking service with basement parking which is a saviour considering the traffic in the street this place is located on.Overall a neutral experience with some good and some not so good stuff happening.
